The School Bus

Make sure you stop for it.

  2. Critical reminder. We're having issues here with people "forgetting" to stop for buses. I'm not sure how they can forget, what with the red flashing lights and the big stop sign sticking out! Maybe we need big blue, 3-D signs :)

    1. I wonder if it's because they're distracted. People are so busy these days that they don't really pay attention to what's going on around them.

  3. People around here actually pass the buses when they start to slow down. I'm not a fan of being stuck behind a school bus, but I follow the law at least!

  4. I don't know if the kids here have gone back to school since the hurricane. It's possible that some schools still don't have electricity.

  5. I obey the law. Sometimes the school bus driver pulls to the side and waves the cars to pass if there's a large backlog.

  8. Right on, Martha! I get exasperated with people who try to zip around stopped school busses. Our crossing guard actually got hit several times by impatient drivers. It makes me crazy! I had a special needs high schooler volunteering in my classroom for a number of years. I forgot he was there one afternoon, and I went ballistic talking to my teammates about a stupid driver flying through the crosswalk and nearly hitting some kids . The next morning our principal had to pull my enthusiastic volunteer off the street, because he was out directing traffic and trying to slow it down to help Mrs. Barbour. LOL Somedays, I just miss my kiddos ~ especially this time of year!
