Rollerblading

Lots of fun on a smooth road.

  1. I can practically feel the breeze in MY hair! lol

When the Trans Canada Highway went through my village in the sixties, there was a short piece of the old highway that was blocked off and no longer used. It was very close to my home, and I remember one whole summer of riding up and down on that piece of pavement. It was still in good condition and I could go like the wind (without a helmet - yikes). Your little people tableau today brought back that memory! (Thank you for that)

    1. Without a helmet.... Those days! No one wore a helmet back then. I wonder how many head injuries there were.

Sounds like such a fun time on that highway!

  3. Nice, he's lucky he has a smooth level road. Reminds me of the time I tried rollerblading. I'm NOT good at stopping lol...no matter how much I practiced, I could never stop on those "stoppers"...even during the roller skating days when the stopper was on the front! I used to rollerblade along the Lachine canal bike path and any time I needed to stop, I'd just jump on the grass. If there was a hill, I hoped I could just keep going! But once I was rollerblading along de Maisonneuve street...not such a good idea. There was a little hill and I thought I could make the green light, it turned yellow and I panicked...couldn't stop, so I grabbed hold of a mailbox, which (of course) fell over lol! I was so embarrassed hee hee...

  4. When my daughter was in high school she wore her roller blades while her dog pulled her around. Then one day the dog pulled her into a patch of poison ivy, to which she had a terrible allergic reaction. She never roller bladed again. She needed a smooth road like yours with no poison ivy at the side.

    Love,
    Janie

    1. Sounds awful, Janie! And it's too bad she never roller bladed again because of that incident.

  5. I've never rollerbladed. I was of the rollerskating era! I haven't been on rollerskates in decades. Thanks for the memories.
